Sunday January 7th, 2024

Dapheney Dolce is a remarkable young entrepreneur, known for her innovative spirit and determination. As the CEO of Choco Kreyol, a micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) located in Cap Haitian, she has made a significant impact in the Haitian artisanal chocolate industry. Dapheney's journey with Choco Kreyol began four years ago with a modest investment of just 500 gourdes and 5 ounces of chocolate, borrowed from her uncle. Despite facing numerous challenges in obtaining materials and growing the business, which led to her partner's withdrawal, Dapheney's resilience and hard work kept the dream alive, albeit with minimal results initially.

The turning point for Dapheney and Choco Kreyol came when she received an in-kind grant of $19,000 from AVANSE. This grant enabled her to acquire essential equipment, including a generator, a complete bean-to-bar chocolate-making package, and a packaging machine. This support significantly scaled up her production capabilities, allowing her to increase her output substantially. Now, she is poised to produce in a single day what previously took a week.
